We take pride in keeping your liver in the know.
At times, we just want to tell you the best spot to procure a 40-oz and shots of harsh whiskey. Other times, we understand the need for your wanting to hit up the newest hot den of serious cocktails and their discontents, to imbibe with abandon and sip sippers involving unusual ingredients that read like they were cultivated on a foreign planet.
And sometimes we come across something we just think you should know about. In this case, this stuff called LIQS Cocktail Shots. Apparently, a couple of New Yorkers spent two years developing the flavor profiles so they would work well to produce what they’re touting as “a bartender-quality cocktail with the portability of a shot sealed in a high quality plastic shot glass.”
Via press release, the founders cite a long time spent studying both the spirits industry and Massachusetts in general, particularly the “strong demographic of young professionals” here, which led to their decision to make us their second market to focus on after their home turf.
Now, we’ll leave it up to you, our responsible readers, to decide if a company giving Bostonians a new way to down shots while on the go is a good idea or not. We will tell you that because it’s launching in town and it involves portable pre-packaged shots, we felt the need to at least alert you to its presence on this Earth.
So far, Hub residents can find the four flavors ranging from 45-55 proof, and using things like 90 percent agave tequila and cinnamon, six-time distilled vodka with cucumber, and a vanilla-tinged version of the college staple unisex shooter, the Kamikaze, at spots all around the city. Even Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Which from a macro level kind of makes sense.
We can’t imagine these not being tossed back by dudes in popped-collar Polo shirts with some kind of rubber bracelet on.
